This is a technique that's used to edit shots before they've even been compiled. What you do is shoot your shots in a sequence (an order). Therefore, before you develop your film, all the scenes are already in order! Therefore it's complete without editing software.
So what this means is that essentially you use just a simple camera or camcorder, maybe a tripod, and that's it. With some filming you've created your own video. In camera editing doesn't require any editing, solely because it is all done whilst still in the filming stages. All the filming is kept in sequence. That is to say that all the scenes are filmed in order, so no pc rearrangement is required. Also each scene is kept the length it's needed.
The problem of course with solely doing In-Camera Editing, however is that it leaves very little room for error. To put it into perspective, every recording must be absolutely perfect, or you've simply got to redo it. This can be incredibly frustrating, and time consuming. The editing being essentially within the Camera, means that the ability to trim the shot at a later date is impossible. As such timing is just as important as all the other factors that need to be taken into account. Neither too long nor too short, and it mustn't leave large gaps after each shot. Essentially you're filming without any sort of safety net. You can't just edit out something you don't like after.
